Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management has stocked five Rhode Island ponds with golden trout. The golden fish are a natural variation of rainbow trout and provide anglers an exciting challenge during a popular fishing weekend.

The following ponds have been stocked with the gold trout:
- Carbunkle Pond, Coventry
- Carolina Trout Pond, Richmond
- Meadowbrook Pond, Richmond
- Olney Pond, Lincoln State Woods Park
- Silver Spring Park, North Kingstown
DEM officials also stocked the Wood River with rainbow trout from the Route 165 check station to Wyoming Pond on Thursday, ensuring there are plenty for Memorial Day weekend.
All anglers must have a valid fishing license to fish for trout.
