The rankings from U.S. News & World Report can have direct and indirect consequences on everything from attracting new students to class sizes. It’s not always obvious what composes these rankings and how they can be used.
Join an informational session on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at noon in the Center for Teaching and Learning’s 330B classroom to learn more about the methodology and how these rankings affect teaching and learning on campus.
Alix Riley, director of institutional research in the Office of Institutional Research and Analysis, and Jackielee Derks, data and systems specialist in the Office of Institutional Research and Analysis, will:
- Explain data points that compose the U.S. News rankings
- Show faculty the methodologies used to rank institutions
- Provide an opportunity for discussion about how faculty contribute to Marquette’s rankings
- Consider how these rankings affect teaching and learning on campus
- Understand what metrics are used and how they can help faculty in their units
This event is jointly organized by the Center for Teaching and Learning and the Office of Institutional Research and Analysis.
