Police in Barrington say two twins in their 90s have died after they apparently fell outside their home and were stranded in the freezing cold overnight.
Police Chief John LaCross tells WPRI-TV a neighbor spotted the women Saturday morning. One sister was found by the garage and the other by the street.
LaCross says police don’t suspect foul play. Nothing appears to have been taken from the women, who have not yet been identified.
LaCross said it appears the sisters fell sometime after 8 p.m. when they would have returned home from dinner Friday night with another sister, who lives in East Providence.
The two were rushed to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence in critical condition but later died. Temperatures were well below freezing with the wind chill overnight Friday.
