A two-alarm fire ripped through a house in the southwestern part of the county Wednesday night.
About 60 firefighters were needed to extinguish the fire at a home in the 8900 block of Blackberry lane about 6:45 p.m., said Gary Styers, deputy fire chief and fire marshal with Forsyth County Emergency Services.
Lewisville and Vienna fire departments as well as the Forsyth County Emergency Services responded.
Because of the location of the house, there was limited access to fire hydrants, and a second alarm was dispatched, Styers said.
Photos on social media by the Winston-Salem and Smith Grove fire departments show heavy damage.
The fire was brought under control by about 12:30 a.m.
Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire, but said the home is a total loss, Styers said.
The Red Cross is assisting the residents.
