A heavyweight boxer walked out of the ring immediately after the opening bell Friday night, leaving fans upset and commentators baffled by one of the most bizarre disqualifications you’ll ever see.
Curtis Harper was set to face Efe Ajagba in a six-round bout on the undercard of the PBC on FS1 event in Minneapolis. Both fighters made their entrances and appeared ready to fight. However, right after the bell rang, Harper exited the ring and walked back up the ramp to the dressing rooms.
Fans quickly began to shower Harper with boos, while Ajagba stood in the ring stunned and the perplexed Fox Sports broadcasters tried to make sense of the scene.
Well that's a new one…

Premier Boxing Champions and FS1 host Jordan Hardy reported that Harper’s departure was over a pay dispute. Harper reportedly told Hardy he felt he wasn’t being paid enough for the bout and wanted to “make a statement.”

Since the opening bell had sounded to begin the fight, it officially goes down as a disqualification, albeit without a single punch thrown. Ajagba improved to 6-0 in his pro career. Harper fell to 13-6.
