Amanda Lewis, representing the Hannibal area, will play the piano as her talent
Thirty Miss Missouri contestants, their pageant directors and families will travel to Mexico, Mo., June 10 to kick off a week filled with rehearsals, talent performances, interviews and evening gowns as the Miss Missouri Scholarship Pageant and Miss Missouri’s Outstanding Teen Pageants kick off at Missouri Military Academy.
The young women are vying for a title, held by current Miss Missouri Jennifer Davis. Last fall, Davis was first runner-up at the Miss America Scholarship Pageant.
This group includes Miss Hannibal Amanda Lewis, a student at Central Methodist University. Her platform is Music Education: Find Your Forte. Lewis will play the piano for the talent portion of the competition.
As a member of the Sigma group, Lewis will have her interview on Wednesday morning, talent on Thursday night, evening gown and on-stage question on Wednesday night, and swimsuit/lifestyle and fitness on Friday night.
Pageant week will kick off Sunday when the Miss contestants move into the dorms on the MMA Campus. Besides rehearsals, the titleholders will have several receptions and activities throughout the Mexico community including a golf tournament, Kentucky Derby style luncheon, and a parade.
Preliminary competitions begin Tuesday, June 11 with the interview portion of the competition and will continue through Friday evening. The finals are on Saturday night with members of this Miss Missouri class, competing for over $40,000 in scholarships.
The winner of this year’s Miss Missouri Scholarship Pageant will go on to compete at the Miss America pageant, which is held September 5-9 in Atlantic City, N.J.
