There are two big Pokémon GO events coming up in Dortmund, Germany and Chicago, Illinois, but you don’t have have to be in those cities to reap the rewards. Players all around the world will have an increased chance to get Roselia, Trapinch, and Feeba as well.
Dortmund and Chicago are part of Pokémon GO 2018 Summer Tour, a series of global events hosted by various cities around the world. Safari Zone in Dortmund will run from June 30 to July 1 followed by Pokémon GO Fest* in Chicago on July 14 to July 15. The final destination is another Safari Zone in Yokosuka, Japan. Safari Zone Yokosuka doesn’t have a date yet, but it’s probably safe to assume that it’ll happen some time in August.
Here’s what you need to know about each Pokémon and when to get them.
Roselia is nice to fill out a Pokédex entry, but that’s about it
Roselia will spawn in much higher numbers during the first Safari Zone, which will run from June 30 to July 1. If you happen to find yourself in Dortmund, Niantic has partnered with the city to establish team lounges and special events, but Roselia’s increased presence will be worldwide.
Originally released as a stand-alone Pokémon, Roselia received a triple tier evolution in the Fourth Generation games. However, it still remains a single form Pokémon in Pokémon GO.
Safari Zone is also the only time you’ll be able to grab a Shiny Roselia, so keep that in mind.
Trapinch is a tough little dude that turns into a powerhouse
Trapinch will spawn in greater numbers during Pokémon GO Fest 2018 in Chicago, which runs from July 14 to July 15. Unfortunately, tickets for the event are already sold out, but, like Safari Zone, you’ll still have a chance to get a Trapinch no matter where you are.
Trapinch is a Ground-type Pokémon that’s the first form of a three-tier family. It’s a scrappy little bugger with surprisingly high attack speed, but you definitely want to evolve it to its final form, Flygon.
Flygon is classified as a Dragon-type, but it stands out amongst its peers because it’s still considered a Ground-type rather than a Flying-type. This makes it very powerful against Electric Pokémon without the traditional weakness against Rock-types that other Dragons suffer from.
Pokémon GO Fest 2018 is the only time you can get a Shiny Trapinch.
Feebas is a sleeping dragon if you can get it to evolve
Feebas will also appear in higher numbers during Pokémon GO Fest 2018. Like Trapinch and Roselia, you don’t have to be in the host cities to grab yourself a Feebas.
Feebas sucks. That’s really all there is to say about it. It’s a Water-type Pokémon with pathetic stamina and that hits like a wet fish, which is appropriate because it’s literally a wet fish. Feebas is basically a reskinned Magikarp.
Ah, but therein lies Feebas’ secret power, because like Magikarp, it can become extremely powerful Dragon-type. Feebas can be evolved into Milotic, a Water/Dragon-type Pokémon on par with the mighty Gyrarados. Milotic doesn’t hit as hard as Gyarados but it makes up for it with a beefy defense rating.
Like Trapinch, Pokémon GO Fest 2018 is the only time you’ll be able to get a Shiny Feebas.
