Rhode Island College has entered into a 10-year agreement to exclusively sell PepsiCo products on campus. On Oct. 5, PepsiCo presented the college with a check for $250,000 in annual sponsorship funds, marketing funds, athletic support, internships, recycling support and free products.
PepsiCo will also make a one-time $40,000 contribution to a yet-to-be-named scholarship fund benefiting student.
All carbonated and non-carbonated natural or artificially flavored non-alcoholic sodas, fruit juices and fruit-flavored drinks, cold teas, bottled water, sports and energy drinks and chilled packaged coffee drinks sold at RIC will be provided by PepsiCo.
“Pepsi’s investment in Rhode Island College has direct benefit for students due to Pepsi’s focus on scholarships, internship support and marketing the college,” said Rhode Island College Vice President for Student Success Jason Meriwether. “Pepsi will be a partner in telling the story of our dynamic students through their visible support of the college in the region.”
Rhode Island College Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Don Tencher said he is excited that the PepsiCo is now formally part of the family.
“The support that the company has given to student-athletes and the athletic program for many years will now be felt across the entire Rhode Island College community,” Tencher said. “The company’s sense of engagement especially related to students is evidenced by its generosity to student-based initiatives.”
