The Indiana County Farm Bureau and Indiana County Dairy Promotion Committee are announcing that June is National Dairy Month and July is National Ice Cream Month.

We are proud of our Indiana County dairy farmers who work hard every day to produce fresh, top-quality milk. The Pennsylvania milk companies produce milk products like bottled milk, butter, cheeses, ice cream, yogurt, sour cream and chip dips.

We ask you to support local dairy products from Pennsylvania. You can determine that the product is from Pennsylvania as it will have the number 42 at the beginning of the plant ID on the product.

Companies using local milk are Beaver Meadows (butter) in DuBois; Dean’s Food (several products) in Sharpsville; Dairy Farmers of America (cheese) in New Wilmington; Fairview Swiss Cheese (cheese) in Fredonia; Galliker’s Dairy (various products) in Johnstown; Land O Lakes (butter) in Carlisle; Lamagna Cheese (cheese) in Verona; Turner Dairy (various products) in Penn Hills; Titusville Dairy (various products) in Titusville; Schneider Dairy (various products) in Pittsburgh; and United Dairy (various products) in Uniontown. Ask your favorite store to stock products from these local companies.
