US President Donald Trump has reiterated his resolve to press ahead with his “America First” policy as his first anniversary as president approaches.
Trump gave a speech on Thursday at a factory in Pennsylvania, one of the key states that propelled him to victory in the 2016 presidential election.
Trump stressed his achievements in the area of tax reform. He said Toyota is coming in and Chrysler has announced it is moving back from Mexico.
He also cited lower unemployment and booming stock markets as achievements of his economic policy.
Trump said his administration is working on trade deals with countries he accuses of taking advantage of the United States. He argued that they will no longer be able to do this as he is putting America first.
His fitness for office has been called into question recently, following the publication of a book about his administration and accusations that he made racist remarks at a meeting on immigration policy.
Trump is apparently trying to appeal to his supporters by highlighting the strength of the US economy.
